As we all know Animation is a technique to give motion to the still images.<\/p>\n

Animation gives the life to the characters and elements which help to communicate with the audience.<\/p>\n

Animations are made with Computer-Generated Imagery<\/a> (CGI).<\/p>\n

Animation is achieved by a rapid succession of continuous images that slightly differ from each other.<\/p>\n

Computer animation<\/a>\u00a0has become popular since\u00a0Toy Story<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(1995), the first fully computer animated feature-length animated film.<\/p>\n

Animated films are based on animal characters, Giant, machines, or cartoon-like humans.<\/p>\n

Now a day Animation studios are creating realistic-looking humans. Films that have attempted this include\u00a0Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within<\/a>\u00a0in 2001,\u00a0Final Fantasy: Advent Children<\/a>\u00a0in 2005,\u00a0The Polar Express<\/a>\u00a0in 2004 etc. Films like \u2018The Incredibles\u2019 and \u2018Up\u2019 have humans as protagonists, while films like\u00a0\u2018Avatar<\/a>\u2019\u00a0combine animation with live action to create humanoid creatures.<\/p>\n

Computer Animation can be divided into 2D and 3D<\/a> Animation.<\/p>\n

2D Animation<\/u><\/h1>\n

In 2D animation<\/a> artist creates movement in a two-dimensional space.<\/p>\n

It requires creativity and technological skills. 2D animation helps to create characters, storyboards and backgrounds in two-dimensional environments.<\/p>\n

Traditional 2D Animation is a technique where images are hand-drawn with every image showing some fine changes from the other image.<\/p>\n

2D Animated Pictures are flat, without depth and shows one perspective. Objects and characters are usually drawn without fine soft shadows that we see in real life and colours have less varying shades.<\/p>\n

2D animation uses Bitmap and Vector graphics to create and edit the animated images and is created using software programs such as Adobe Photoshop<\/a>, Flash, Adobe After Effects<\/a> and Anime Studio.<\/p>\n

These animations are used in advertisements<\/a>, films, television shows, computer games or websites.<\/p>\n

Creation of 2D animation requires: Pre-Production<\/a>, Production<\/a> and Post-Production<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In the stage of Pre-production each shot need to be drawn correctly.<\/p>\n

Here the main action in each scene is drawn in a comic book-like form. Storyboard<\/a> is completed during this stage.<\/p>\n

In 2D animation, character moves from one key-frame to another, thus giving an illusion of continuous movement.<\/p>\n

The drawings are divided into \u201ckeys\u201d and \u201cin-betweens\u201d. Keys have important drawing that shows the extremes of the character\u2019s movement.<\/p>\n

The first drawing is always a key-while \u201cin-between\u201d are the less important drawings in the shot. During Production motion is added to the characters.<\/p>\n
