Indian Daily Soap and one of the ruling Indian producer, who has played a pivotal role in changing the course of Indian television.<\/p>\n<p>Under her production company, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.balajitelefilms.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Balaji Telefilms<\/a>, she has produced numerous serials which were even dubbed and adapted into other regional languages.<\/p>\n<p>Ekta Kapoor has produced the immensely popular series, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.animationkolkata.com\/blog\/2017\/12\/04\/animation-vfx-used-tele-serial-nagin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Naagin<\/a> (season 1 and 2) in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.colorstv.com\/in\/shows-latest.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Colors TV<\/a>, which revolved around a story of shape shifting serpents.<\/p>\n<p>It had a varied use of VFX and went on to become the highest rated shows on Indian Television at the time when it aired.<\/p>\n<p>The highly rated show Naagin, is replaced by another story revolving around supernatural epic fantasy theme-<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Chandrakanta_(2017_TV_series)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Ek Mayavi Prem Gatha-Chandrakanta<\/strong><\/a>, produced by Ekta Kapoor, under the banner of Balaji Telefilms.<\/p>\n<p>Chandrakanta is a popular novel written by <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Devaki_Nandan_Khatri\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Devaki Nandan Khatri<\/a> and published in 1888.<\/p>\n<p>It is considered as the first modern Hindi novel and it has attained a cult status due to it\u2019s popularity in Hindi language.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2544\" src=\"http:\/\/www.animationkolkata.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/3-1-190x300.jpg\" alt=\"VFX Animation Kolkata\" width=\"369\" height=\"582\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 369px) 100vw, 369px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The first television adaptation of the novel was made in 1990 by Nirja Guleri, as its creator, writer, producer and director.<\/p>\n<p>This huge budget series went on to become one of it\u2019s time biggest ever blockbuster.<\/p>\n<p>After its first success the serial was attempted few other times too.<\/p>\n<p>The latest addition to the adaptation of the famous novel being Ekta Kapoor\u2019s Ek Mayavi Prem Gatha-Chandrakanta, which is said to be loosely based on the novel.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>THE STORY<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Chandrakanta- is a story narrating the tales of a lost princess of same name, who lost her entire family and kingdom to an evil queen in a war.<\/p>\n<p>After the war her identity was lost and she was raised by a loving fishing couple in some other place.<\/p>\n<p>She grows up to be a valiant warrior like woman with strong determination and unmatching focus on life.<\/p>\n<p>But the real journey of her life starts when she comes across the evil queen\u2019s son, who falls for her enchanting beauty and gets engrossed in her love.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2545\" src=\"http:\/\/www.animationkolkata.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/4-1-300x206.jpg\" alt=\"VFX Animation Kolkata\" (max-width: 529px) 100vw, 529px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>UTILISATION OF VFX TECHNIQUES<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nowadays, Indian television shows are also bragging of high end VFX.<\/p>\n<p>It has become an increasing trend for creating shows based on mythological, historical and fantasy themes, wherein there is a lot of <a href=\"https:\/\/animationkolkata.com\/blog\/2016\/07\/16\/brief-discussion-on-career-growth-in-animation-visual-effects-graphic-web-designing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">visual effects<\/a> works is incorporated.<\/p>\n<p>But the the need of more developed utilisation of <a href=\"https:\/\/animationkolkata.com\/blog\/2016\/08\/03\/history-of-special-effects-in-indian-cinema\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">special effects<\/a> to make it look more appealing.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2551\" src=\"http:\/\/www.animationkolkata.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/DGY0kYKUQAAAqTn-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"560\" height=\"373\" https:\/\/www.animationkolkata.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/DGY0kYKUQAAAqTn.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Chandrakanta seems to have mediocre quality VFX, which does not seem so promising at all, for a long run.<\/p>\n<p>As the central theme for Chandrakanta is magic, so a lot of <a href=\"https:\/\/animationkolkata.com\/blog\/2016\/08\/13\/visual-effects-in-hollywood\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">visual effects<\/a> works is needed.<\/p>\n<p>But somewhere in creating extremely high in quantity effects, the quality is lost.<\/p>\n<p>It can be termed as an attempt of sub-standard VFX by Ekta Kapoor.<\/p>\n<p>She should have paid more attention towards the VFX requirements and quality.<\/p>\n<p>High quality VFX, surely requires a lot of money, but Balaji Telefilms is no ordinary production house, so a more visually tempting and realistic standard of work is expected.<\/p>\n<p>Not some cheesy effects which wipes off the essence of the story and makes it cringeworthy.<\/p>\n<p>The promos\u00a0 look not very promising but average.<\/p>\n<p>The flaunting of not-so-well-designed backgrounds gave us quite a preview of the inferior standard of work to be created.<\/p>\n<p>On many levels, it looks like highly inspired by <a href=\"https:\/\/animationkolkata.com\/blog\/2016\/08\/13\/visual-effects-in-hollywood\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hollywood<\/a> and literally looks like copied the concepts.<\/p>\n<p>For example, Chandrakanta talking to dolphins and birds (just like Harry Potter has the power to talk to the snakes).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2549\" src=\"http:\/\/www.animationkolkata.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/185_8-300x158.jpg\" alt=\"VFX Animation Kolkata\" width=\"611\" height=\"322\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.animationkolkata.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/185_8-300x158.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.animationkolkata.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/185_8.jpg 692w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 611px) 100vw, 611px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Another instance, on 30<sup>th<\/sup> September\u2019s episode, when Queen Iravati set up the long table with her magical powers, which at some level, looked like \u201dThe Great Hall\u201d in the Hogwarts Castle.<\/p>\n<p>It not only lacked originality but also looked shoddy.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/animationkolkata.com\/blog\/2016\/09\/14\/matte-painting-essential-part-vfx\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">matte paintings<\/a> and the overall compositing did not looked good either.<\/p>\n<p>They are highly unable to look convincing to a viewer and looked extremely childish.<\/p>\n<p>In the episode of 29<sup>th<\/sup> July, where Chandrakanta is seen walking through the woods, is an enough proof of the fact that it is a sub-standard work.<\/p>\n<p>The lighting was not convincing either.<\/p>\n<p>It was supposed to be a dark forest but an unrealistic light from unknown source was coming.<\/p>\n<p>And the excessive use of particles for the snowfall definitely caused a major embarrassment to the scene.<\/p>\n<p>And the<a href=\"https:\/\/animationkolkata.com\/blog\/2017\/03\/04\/john-lasseters-principles-3d-animation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> 3D<\/a> forest creatures made no sense and looked absolutely unrealistic. The comprehensive look of the scene was shallow.<\/p>\n<p>The VFX supervisors need to spend more time on Modelling and try to create more appealing and realistic <a href=\"https:\/\/animationkolkata.com\/blog\/2017\/05\/31\/2d-3d-animation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">3D<\/a> models of the creatures.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2547\" src=\"http:\/\/www.animationkolkata.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/7-1-240x300.jpg\" alt=\"VFX Animation Kolkata\" width=\"398\" height=\"498\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.animationkolkata.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/7-1-240x300.jpg 240w, https:\/\/www.animationkolkata.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/7-1.jpg 353w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 398px) 100vw, 398px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The cheetah, shown in the 2<sup>nd<\/sup> July\u2019s episode, who attacked the villagers, looked more hilarious than scary but the attempt was good.<\/p>\n<p>Then the boar in the episode of 25<sup>th<\/sup> November was neither convincing.<\/p>\n<p>Due to this low grade models the scenes lose its impact.<\/p>\n<p>Ekta Kapoor surely created a huge set and spent a lot of money to maintain the grandeur of the show, but she should have properly allocated the money to the VFX supervisors for more effective execution of the <a href=\"https:\/\/animationkolkata.com\/blog\/2016\/09\/05\/bring-realism-movies-using-visual-effects\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">visual effects<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The VFX shown in the series is decent and cannot be ignored at all.
